Kari Ovaskainen

Kari Ovaskainen, principal double bass

Kari Ovaskainen studied double bass at the Kuopio Conservatory and later at the Soloist Department of the Sibelius Academy, where he completed his diploma with distinction in 1992. He worked as a substitute musician at the Finnish National Opera from 1989 to 1999. Kari has been playing with the Mikkeli City Orchestra for over 20 years.

He was drawn to a career in music because of its rich variety and versatility. In his free time, Kari enjoys nature photography, cooking, and playing electric guitar.
