Sari Nevanko
PRINCIPAL VIOLA
Sari Nevanko began her music studies in 1986 at the Hyvinkää Music Institute, where her parents enrolled her after noticing her musical talent. From the very beginning, the viola was chosen as her main instrument.
Even during her early studies, Sari was actively involved in orchestral and chamber music activities in Hyvinkää, eventually joining the Hyvinkää Orchestra as her skills progressed.
After high school, she pursued professional studies at Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia (now Metropolia University of Applied Sciences), graduating in 2006 under the guidance of Atso Lehto.
Sari enjoys playing chamber music both in orchestras and smaller ensembles. She is a member of the chamber orchestra La Tempesta, which has performed as far away as Japan. She first became familiar with the Mikkeli City Orchestra during a substitute position in autumn 2016, and has served as Principal Viola since January 2018.
In her free time, Sari enjoys caring for her cats, spending time in nature with her partner, and doing handicrafts.
