Heidi Lehtoranta
First violin sub-pricipal
Heidi Lehtoranta began playing the violin at the age of three—initially with two fly swatters. Her parents quickly recognized her enthusiasm and bought her a real violin. She completed her professional studies at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, graduating as a music pedagogue in 2005 under the guidance of Anatoli Melnikov. After that, she continued her studies for a year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in the UK. Upon returning to Finland, Heidi completed further specialization studies in music at Jyväskylä.
Heidi has been playing in the first violin section of the Mikkeli City Orchestra since 2007. She has performed extensively in various chamber music ensembles and appeared as a soloist, including with the Capriccioso Chamber Orchestra in Budapest. Outside of orchestral playing, Heidi enjoys spending time with her family and has a hobby of browsing flea markets.
